Lifeguard Training Makes You Disciplined And Respectful

To become a lifeguard is synonymous to become a disciplined and responsible person by developing a more mature personality. Lifeguard training develops patience in you when you have to deal with people who are not aware of the safety procedures. It takes a lot of mental strength to help people who do not realize the level of danger they are in.

Lifeguard training helps you just with that; to learn and develop skills of communication with all age groups. The people having fun in the pool or in the beach just don’t like to be stopped or interfered with their fun in the water. People having fun with water in the pool or in the beach can be difficult to make realized the potential water hazards around them. Lifeguard training teaches you skills to deal with young and old people during their fun time in the water. This training makes you respectful and responsible to do your job effectively.

American Lifeguards Association offers Lifeguards training of two different types of courses with certifications. This training makes you impose the rules with maturity and respectfully without being annoyed, so to speak. The two types of course certifications include the following:

1-    Shallow water certification

2-    Deep and Shallow water certification

SHALLOW WATER CERTIFICATION

The standard requirement for a lifeguard is to swim continuously for 300 yards but shallow water lifeguards are not subject to that distance of swimming. Shallow water lifeguard training is limited to pools and other similar water bodies that are not deep and are located mostly indoors.

This training is for people who are not very strong swimmers but are fearless in water conditions. They do not need to swim like deep water lifeguards while carrying 10lb of weight for 20 yards. Being a shallow water lifeguard one has the liberty to walk in the water instead of swimming carrying some weight with them.

The pools do not have deep water so the lifeguards at the pool need to be strong even if they are not good swimmers but should not be afraid of large water bodies. If one is registered for the deepwater lifeguard training and does not pass the deep water requirements of a lifeguard and meanwhile passes all other required training areas, he will be awarded the shallow water lifeguards certification instead of deep water lifeguards certification.

Americal Lifeguards Association can upgrade shallow water certified lifeguards to deep water lifeguards if the lifeguard has become able to pass the deep water requirements. This upgrade will not any additional cost.

DEEP AND SHALLOW WATER CERTIFICATION

Deep and shallow water training is for the students who want to be a lifeguard at open and deep water bodies like beaches of seashores and big lakes. The general requirement for deepwater students is to be able to swim for 300 yards continuously. They should be able to swim at least 20 yards carrying 10lb weight.

This student with this certification can serve both shallow and deep water bodies. The candidates should be strong swimmers and should not be afraid of large water bodies and big waves. They are taught about the indications and signs in the water of being potentially dangerous to the swimmers at beaches.

They are taught the rules and also how to impose and implement them without being disrespectful to non-co-operative people who are having fun in the water. This also develops patience in the students and makes them mature persons. They are taught to behave like gentlemen while at work in and near the water.

In all the lifeguards training courses at the American Lifeguard Association, we use the newest and latest equipment and training aids.

PROFESSIONAL LIFEGUARD TRAINING

This training program is for the more skilled people who already have some experience being a lifeguard. They are taught to save people while being a lifeguard and by using first aid, Oxygen supplements Blood Pathogens, and CPR/AED.

The lifeguards training at ALA does not only teaches you the physical methods to cover emergency situations and save people from physical harm but also makes you able to help people to be in line with the rule of the swimming area.

SKILL OF TALKING TO DIFFERNT PEOPLE

During training at ALA, we teach you to understand that not all people have the same level of maturity and understanding but different people have different levels of understanding and mental maturity. We teach that in spite of spending time on making them understand your professional level of understanding, the lifeguard should be able to adjust to them. Talk in a way that you are able to impose the rule as well as make sure that you do not get into arguments with the person.

This is one of the basic skills to master while working in a public place with different people with different levels of understanding. It is all about how you say your thing without being annoying or offensive to the listener. At ALA we teach students to talk to different people differently and still make no compromises you rule for the safety of the people.

STAY IN SHAPE

Being a lifeguard means that the lives of the people depend on you. You have to be alert and fit and ready at all times to be able to respond quickly to any problem. If you are in shape and fit and active, then you have a good impression and respect for the people in the water because you seem ready to respond to any problem.

Do not make the mistake of staying out of shape by not eating the right food. The right food is an essential part of being healthy and in shape during your training and while on duty. We teach to work out for better swimming being fit on the job for rescuing people in need.

The job of a lifeguard is a serious job and it is a work of responsibility. If you think otherwise, like it just needs a good swimmer with a strong body then you really need to come to join ALA for serious training to realize how serious this work is. During lifeguard training, ALA teaches and trains you to save lives.
